About the GLOBE Program
The Global Learning Observation to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program (www.globe.gov) is an international science and education program that provides students and the public worldwide with the opportunity to participate in the data collection and the scientific process, and contribute meaningfully to our understanding of the Earth system and the global environment.
GLOBE is jointly sponsored by the USA National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), with support from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOOA) and the Department of State. It has 115 country members to date spread throughout 6 regions – Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America and Caribbean, Near East and North Africa, and North America.
The Philippines became a member country under the GLOBE Asia Pacific cluster by virtue of the Environmental Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and the United States of America signed on January 1999.
The GLOBE Program in the Philippines is being implemented and coordinated by the Philippine Science High School System.
